Sports & Games:
Physical fitness plays an important role in developing the overall personality and mental balancing of a student as well. The University College of Technology equally emphasizes the need to develop physical activities and encourages Sports and games making it an integral part of the curriculum various sports facility is provided to the students within the campus. Various sports competitions such as inter departmental, inter collegiate, etc help in developing team spirit among students. Their interpersonal relationship is enhanced a very healthy manner. Students are provided with honours like medals, trophies and certificates every year.
Functions of the cell:
The physical education section of UCT shall be responsible for all the sports and games related activities within and outside campus concerned with the college. The coordinator of the Games & Sports Cell shall organize, coordinate and execute all the sports and games related activities both within as well as outdoor of the college. The responsibilities and functions shall include (but not limited to) the followings.
The physical education section shall work in coordination with student Coordinators and HODs. Further, he shall be responsible for suggesting budgetary provision for activities related to the Cell.
- Prepare sports calendar and an action plan to implement the same,suggest methods which encourage students and faculty to utilize sports and games facilities available in the college.
- Take up the responsibility of preparing the budget estimate, requirement of infrastructure and equipment, maintaining the equipment and play fields.
- Selection of teams to represent the college in inter-collegiate tournaments and also the intra-mural tournaments.
- Prepare the details of attendance exemption to be given to the students representing college in various sports and games.
Committee
The committee consists of Chairman, vice- chairman, physical education, faculty members from each department and one student from each sport & game.
